- Quiet Location
The location was chosen to be quiet and sheltered by extensive woodland from the worst of the weather.
- Main Yard
The main yard at Freedom Farm was built new in 1992 and comprises thirty-two boxes in a square, with two towers at opposite corners. The square one contains the offices and the foaling boxes, whilst the round one is a store.
- Foaling Boxes
Three double foaling boxes, with complete video surveillance, provide every facility for the safe foaling of mares.
- Veterinary Facilities
We pride ourselves in giving the best care to all horses in our charge. For this reason, in conjunction with our vets, we have created a state-of-the-art veterinary unit, for the safe handling of horses under all circumstances.
- Paddocks
The main yard is surrounded by nearly 200 acres of paddocks. These are laid out for maximum security and to minimise the time taken to transfer horses.
- Foal Paddocks
Four small paddocks and an indoor yard are provided for mares and foals, colts and other horses, that need special care and observation.
- Second Yard
Well-separated from the main yard is the second yard with 36 boxes and a special box for Vague Shot.
This yard is normally used as a barren mare unit and outside of the breeding season for horses out of training and those in quarantine.
- Outdoor School
We have a large all-weather outdoor school, that can be used to exercise horses in the worst of conditions.
- Horsewalker
New in 1999 was a horsewalker.
- Extensive Gallops
We have laid out the stud, so that there are extensive rides and gallops, where horses can be properly exercised.
This enabled us, to keep a mare fit, whilst she was being covered by a Newmarket stallion. Five weeks later, she was placed in a Group race.
